Lovely 1869 Dutch Cut Glass / Crystal Silver Swing Handle Flower Bowl Basket. Presented is a lovely antique Dutch cut crystal and silver swing handled bowl or basket. This piece is dated 1869, both by the date stamp hallmark and the presentation inscription of 06 19 1869 on the handle, reading HTKS, HTKS, HHTS, and AH with the date in the middle.
The bowl itself is beautifully cut in a petaled floral form, while the handle is finely hand engraved with flowers and scrolls and little rosettes. The basket is stamped with Dutch hallmarks on the underside of the handle and on the mounts where the handle is joined to the body, with the Dutch lion second standard hallmark guaranteeing 833 purity silver, the date letter K for 1869 the Minerva's head assay stamp, and a maker's mark. This piece is in excellent overall condition.
The glass/crystal has a couple of minor chips to the tips of the'petals' here and there, but no major chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The silver is in great shape, with no repairs, no monogram removals, and no splits. The basket measures about 9 1/2 inches in diameter and stands about 2 1/2 inches tall at the rim, or about 7 1/2 inches tall at the handle.
