Dutch Solid Silver miniature Pitcher with Figural Wild Man Spout Serpent Handle Hallmarked. Presented is a stunning solid silver Pitcher Hallmarked for Dutch solid silver. This excellent piece has a chased detailed floral motif design around the basin above and below a gadroon design on a raised base with a serpent motif intricate handle and a wild man spout beneath a great hinge pin domed gadroon lid. It is has hallmarks for silver beneath the pitcher rim of with a dagger and 16 above an R and on the bottom with a hand holding a dagger for Dutch 833 fine silver; American standard sterling silver is 925 fine, so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. I have posted a picture of my research in the photos above.

This is a beautiful piece has no monogram, only some minor dings. A slight out of round base giving cruet a slight wobble.

And some fine scratches from gentle use and care. This is a stunning piece of high artistry perfect for the collector of antique European fine silver. 4 7/8 inches high, 1 7/8 inches wide, 2 5/8 inches wide across handle to spout. 2.7 ounces or 76 grams on my postal scale.
