This small silver tea caddy was made in the 1930s by a silversmith with the initials JK. Decorated with the classic Djokja Lotus flower design. The tea caddy closes perfectly and stands solid. Provenance: Years in my private collection, bought from a Dutch gentleman born in Indonesia.Weight: 180 grams or approx. Height: 8.5 centimeter or approx. Diameter: 7.5 centimeter or approx. Condition: The tea caddy is in a very good condition with regular traces of careful use. Has a very tiny split.
The name Djokja / Yogya silver originates from the town name of Djokjakarta, Java, Indonesia. Between 1930 and 1970, a lot of silver was made in Kota Gede, a town next to Djokjakarta.
