833 silver over-sized spoon and fork set. It appears to be a 19th century reproduction of a 17th century Dutch design.
The handles are cast silver and show an image of Athena with sword and shield, with a lion's head on either side. The pieces show several Dutch hallmarks, including the St. Andrews Crosses, Minerva head, and the lion passant indicating a fineness of. They have several other marks that I have not been able to identify. Both pieces have a date mark indicating manufacture in 1889. The bowl of the spoon has "1623" and a heraldic crest engraved on it. The exact origin of these pieces is a bit of a mystery, as they have features of both 17th and 19th century design and manufacture. Condition is very fine estate condition - please see condition description and photos for condition details The pieces weigh about 320 grams together.
