This very large Dutch silver spoon measures 6 3/4 and weighs 35.4 DWT. Since one of the hallmarks shows a lion with the #2 below, that is a Dutch marking for 83% solid silver. The other hallmarks are the maker mark "VE" with what looks like crossed spoons above inside a square shapped cartouche and there is also a very abstract symbol inside a circular cartouche (3 silver touchmarks in total).Even though the handle is made of solid cast silver, this is not a common mass produced cast spoon since the silversmith used a technique called "repousse" or he hand hammered the fine details shown inside the bowl. Hence this solid silver spoon is UNIQUE (there isn't another identical example anywhere in the world in other words). If you want the finest in silversmithing as well as a unique piece of Art Nouveau silver from the late 1800's, then this would be a center piece for your collection!
