This 19th solid 833 silver box was rescued from a potential scrap pile. It bears the Dutch/Netherland lion with the numeral 2 beneath, denoting the 833 standard solid silver. It also has other imprints, including those you see in the last two photos... The same maker imprint found on the bottom and the cover.
It looks like an R or T and W2. The box has a distressed bottom, slightly indented at the center bottom. The 9th photo is of the bottom before it was lightly cleaned with soft paste silver polish. The repousse' design of tavern revelers and music makers is highly raised. The central and real oval panels have cattle, a landscape with buildings... The ends have the chased birds, again both different. The box measures about 4 1/4" W x 3 1/2" D x 1 1/2 H. NOTE, the bottom is dented at the center, but the top and sides, with the raised designs, are not dented or distorted. It has not been thoroughly cleaned, just lightly polished all around, with the recessed areas darker. The hinge is as original, functioning, no damage. The weight is approx 94 grams.
