Superb 1819 Dutch Silver 3pc Ribbed Tea Set Heavy Weight. Presented is a superb quality antique Dutch silver three piece tea set.
The teapot and creamer date to 1819 and are made in 934 purity silver, a higher standard than sterling 925. The sugar is a marriage piece, though it matches very well in style and size, and is made in 833 purity silver. The set is made in a handsome, classical form, featuring a vertical ribbed design around the lower portion of the body and standing on four ball form feet. The teapot has a fine horn handle and beautifully cast finial in the form of a recumbent lion. This lion finial is solid silver, quite heavy in and of itself. The teapot has a capacity of 2 ½ cups, or 20 fluid ounces/0.59 liters.
These pieces are very clean, ready for use or display. Sugar5 1/2 7 4 5/8. This set is in great overall condition. There are a couple of minor dings here and there, but nothing of any significance in our opinion.
There are no splits, no dents, no leaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Both the teapot and the creamer are hallmarked with the Dutch first standard mark to the left of the handle, guaranteeing 934 purity silver, as well as a maker's mark of DH to the right of the handle. The teapot has the DH maker's mark (twice) and the date letter K on the underside as well. The sugar basket is hallmarked with the Dutch second standard mark on the underside of the rim, guaranteeing silver of 833 purity. The total weight for the set is 1004 grams or 35.4 regular ounces.
