An impressive late nineteenth century sterling silver Dutch Box. It measures 3 3/4 or 9.5cm in diameter. Stands 1 3/4 or 4.5cm tall.
Weight is 205 grams or approx. Of circular form with hinged Top.
The Top has repousse decoration in the form of the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with the motto -'Crescunt Concordia Res Parvae' - (Unity is strength). The side of the Box has panels with scenes of contemporary Dutch Life. There is a Dutch hallmark of a lion Rampant above a Key and two other small Mark's.
There are also clear British hallmarks for London, 1890 with the'F' letter for imported goods - this guarantees the sterling silver standard. In very good and clean condition with no damage and very little in the way of the superficial surface marking expected in antique silver. The decoration is reasonably crisp.
