A fine, early 1930s Dutch tea caddy with solid silver lid and accents over bakelite. Beautifully finished with intricate scroll and floral motifs. Hallmarked in various areas, photos 5 & 6 show some of the hallmarks, which include the lion passant for a minimum of 833 silver purity (83.3% pure silver), Minerva head in helmet duty mark and Y letter mark for the date, 1933.
A great example of Dutch silver craftsmanship, and a wonderful piece that incorporates early bakelite manufacturing.
