Late 19th/early 20th Century Solid Silver Pounce Pot - Dutch Export Marks. A delightful continental silver pounce pot dating from the late 19th or early 20th Century and so evocative of the period. The design, lines and narrative story told around its panels are exquisite, beautifully executed and there for everybody to see. Dating is difficult in that the base has several marks in close proximity and largely less than well struck. What is clear is that there is at least one sword mark, several keys and a lion - all indicating that it was exported from Holland. There may also be a'K' on the base and I believe there to be several more (well rubbed) marks on an upright panel on the left looking towards it. That said, his lovely little pounce is totally charming!
