Arge dutch Solid silver bird spice herb pot bearing the dutch silver swordmark circa 1900. The bird has red glass eyes & a removeable head which enables the body to be filled with spices or herbs, simlilar ones were pounce pots or pepper pots these would have hinged heads or a pierced opening.
Measurements: 13 cms or 5 inches long. 7cms or just under 3 inches high. Hallmarks: dutch silver sword hallmark & a makers mark which is rubbed can be found on the collar of the bird that fits into the box. Condition, overall it is good having been used daily as a piece of tableware it does bear a number of minor dints damage to the body although all acceptable on a scarce item of this nature & reflected in the asking price.
