Beautifully made antique Dutch Silver Figural Bell, dating to the 19th Century. The antique Bell is in the form of a finely dressed woman with narrow waist and with finely engraved nature scenes and motifs on her skirt. The engravings appear are in three tiers. The top tier depicts animals, which all nearly seem to be grazing. A long necked bird in one scene has it's beak inside the mouth of what appears to be a wild dog.The middle tier depicts a village scene, which includes a church and other buildings, a windmill, sailboats and two male figures that appear to be walking with long staphs. The bottom tier is a repeating scallop motif. Her arms merge with an applied scroll-like design which attaches to the sides of her skirt. The parts are fixed and not movable. She has a petticoat which is not silver. The ringer attaches inside her skirt. The Bell is hallmarked on the reverse side of her skirt (see photograph). And possibly another marked that is not legible on one of the side scrolls.
The antique 19th Century Dutch Continental Silver Bell stands 3 1/2 high. The base of her skirt has a diameter of 1 1/2. The bell has considerable heft, weighing a total of approximately 114 grams.
The antique Figure Formed Bell is in very fine condition. Note the slight dents along the base of her skirt. The Bell is picking up reflections of the room while being photographed (photographed with and without a camera flash). The Figural Bell shows well and even more detailed in person.
