Offered for sale is a Dutch silver needle holder with a chatelaine chain from the Netherlands. The holder has stamped decoration of Rear Admiral Zoutman and trophies. Johan Arnold Zoutman was a Dutch naval officer and was rear admiral during the successful battle of Dogger Bank. He also fought in the American Revolutionary War. The Battle was in 1781 so this box dates to after this date.
It is hallmarked on one end for Amsterdam, for 1784 (date letter "z"). The needle holder measures 3-3/4 inches in length. The piece has a monogram as a signet on the end.
