Offered is an exceptional example of antique Dutch silver in the form of a hand-raised, reticulated and engraved punchbowl with a crystal liner. The deeply formed silver bowl has been elaborately hand cut with a floral and foliate motif with birds background. Cast applied swags frame reserves with birds and foliage. The cut work and engraving are both of exceptional quality. It is raised on three cast and applied Rococo feet, and has a cast and applied rococo rim. Birthday gift to a Harriet Lowell Putnam (Lowell and Putnam are both old New England families) from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There are two hallmarks on the base, a lion passant with a key indicating. 835 silver standard made for export, and what might be a makers mark NZ? Which is only partially legible. On the rim below the applied decoration it is stamped Holland, and within the decoration is a Minerva head mark with the letter E for Gronigen.
