A charming late Victorian sterling silver Dutch imported Box. The oval Box measures 6cm x 5cm and is 4.5cm tall. Oval in form with hinged cushion form lid. The sides are embossed with animals and figures within shields and the lid has an embossed tableau of a mother and her children.Hallmarked with import marks for London, 1898. Maker's/sponsors mark of John George Smith. There are also Dutch marks to the base including the Dutch lion rampant and key export mark. In very good, clean and bright condition. In robust condition with no damage, splits or pin holes. The hinge is good and the lid closes precisely.
