A Combined Dutch Silver Lodderein (Vinaigrette) & Snuff Box : Netherlands 1840. Such boxes are the Dutch equivalents of English vinaigrettes and would have carried perfumed swads. Rare combination form with snuff box. Rectangular form with rounded corners.
Hinged lids to both elements. Good quality geometric engine turned decoration with crisp definition.
Form tight seals when closed. A genuine antique at 180 years old (date stamped). Assayed: Netherlands, 1840 Bears the lion passant mark for. 833 silver to the interior and Minerva head to one side merged in decoration. Maker: Maker mark of what appears to be a BK or HK.
