1746 Antique Dutch Silver Spoon Lady of Hope. Presented is an antique, Dutch silver serving spoon made during the mid 18th century. This piece features a sea motif, with a decorative, full figural top in the form of the symbol of Hope, a woman in period dress holding an anchor in one hand and her hat raised into the air with the other.
The back has a Dutch date letter of "M", indicating that it was produced in the city of Purmerend in 1746. Also on the back of the bowl is an old, original monogram M. This piece is guaranteed to be at least 875 silver purity. The condition of the very old antique is good, the handle and bowl polish nicely and the spoon displays well. With close scrutiny you can find two locations of the handle where cracks or breaks have been repaired with solder, but the color match is excellent and no damage is apparent.
